ADMIRAL Project is creating a federated data management infrastructure for use by life science researchers, that will provide services to:

  • meet their local data management needs for the collection, digital organization, metadata annotation and controlled sharing of biological datasets; and
  • provide an easy and secure route for archiving annotated datasets to an institutional repository, The Oxford University Data Store, for long-term preservation and access, complete with assigned Digital Object Identifiers and Creative Commons open access licences.

CLAROS (Classical Art Research Online Services) is an international interdisciplinary research initiative led by the University of Oxford (Humanities and Mathematics and Physical Sciences), hosted by the Oxford e-Research Centre (OeRC), and inspired by the Beazley Archive, to integrate online more than two million records and images held in research centres in Oxford, Paris, Cologne and Berlin.

MIIDI

Project home: http://imageweb.zoo.ox.ac.uk/wiki/index.php/MIIDI (soon to migrate to http://www.miidi.org)

MIIDI is a Minimal Information standard for reporting an Infectious Disease Investigation. The purpose of MIIDI is to facilitate the creation of metadata for datasets and for articles of relevance to infectious disease investigations, for the benefit of epidemiologists, those undertaking systematic reviews, and many others.

MIIDI has several potential uses:

  • It can act as a content checklist for authors, editors and reviewers.
  • It can underpin machine-readable Structured Digital Abstracts describing papers.
  • It can ensure metadata for an infectious disease research dataset is adequate.
  • It can underpin tools for metadata creation (e.g. ISA-Creator).
  • It can aid resource discovery by providing consistent semantically defined search terms.
  • Machine-readable MIIDI metadata files can facilitate automated data integration
  • Machine-readable MIIDI Structured Digital Abstracts can facilitate automated publication selection e.g. of clinical trial reports, for a systematic review.

MILARQ

Project home: http://code.google.com/p/milarq/

The MILARQ project will provide performance improvements for applications that are based on SPARQL queries to a Jena TDB data store, by supporting the creation and use of additional indexes that accelerate problematic queries.
